Statement on False Rumours Regarding The Halcyon, Bingley

Joseph Mews and Sekhon Group are aware of a false rumour circulating in the local community suggesting that The Halcyon, a new residential development in Bingley, will be used to house asylum seekers upon completion.

We want to make it absolutely clear that these claims are entirely unfounded. The Halcyon has been sold exclusively to private investors and homeowners. All properties are individually owned, with no institutional ownership, and will either be occupied by their owners or rented out privately. There are no agreements, discussions, plans or intentions for The Halcyon to be used for asylum seeker accommodation, now or in the future.

We understand that the topic of asylum seeker housing is a matter of national discussion, and we approach this with full respect and sensitivity. However, it is important for local residents and stakeholders to have accurate information about the development and its intended use.

Local MP Anna Dixon, MP for Shipley, has also confirmed this, stating:

“I have had a response this morning from the developers, who have confirmed they have already sold many of the properties to individual investors and that continues to be the market they are focusing on. They have confirmed the development will not be used as asylum seeker accommodation”

Andy Foote, Chairman of Joseph Mews, commented:

“We are proud to be delivering The Halcyon, which represents a significant investment in Bingley’s future. It is a high-quality residential development designed to provide homes for private buyers and individual investors, and it will make a positive contribution to the local community.”

Simmy Sekhon, Managing Director of Sekhon Group, added:

“Our priority is to provide clarity and reassurance to the community. The Halcyon has always been developed with private investors and homeowners in mind, and that vision remains unchanged.”

With completion now underway, our focus is on welcoming new residents and ensuring every client experiences a smooth, stress-free handover. At both Joseph Mews and Sekhon Group, we pride ourselves on our commitment to transparency, quality, and long-term value. Every buyer receives a personalised, end-to-end service, from the point of reservation to the day they receive their keys, ensuring that their investment or home purchase exceeds expectations.

The Halcyon is set to become a vibrant part of Bingley, contributing to the town’s growth while offering high-quality homes designed for modern living. We look forward to seeing this exciting development thrive as residents move in and make it their own.
